New life for the inner yard + Banging Scotch Eggs

Dear Delightful People,

How are you? How has your week been? Let’s hope the barometer stays set fair so we can get out and tame the wilderness that’s sprung up with the rain.

All is well here at GF. Tim who was like another son to my Father and his team has have started digging in the Inner Yard. And so begins the transformation of what was once the heart of the farm from an eye sore to a delightful courtyard. On the café wall and coming to social media soon is an artist’s impression of the future. Rest assured the diggers won’t be digging over the weekend.

First a date for your diary: The next edition of Food is Medicine with the insightful Dr Margriet is at 730pm Wed 1st July, click HERE to book.

As many of you may know, Lapwing Education who support young people who struggle in mainstream education run a forest school in our woods. It’s something that we are incredibly proud of and lucky to be able to do. Every year we also support East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice by running the Piglet Junior Hog obstacle course in July and the Boss Hogg for grown-ups in October. And we love it when great products arrive made by people for whom life is not easy, like the runny honey that has just been re-supplied. I hope you’ll forgive the virtue signalling but sometimes a new angle worth sharing materialises.

Meantime, further acclaim for GFK: “banging Scotch eggs!” Need I say more? Oh yes, I do. Do try the N’duja Scotch Eggs before I eat them all. Plus for those of you desperate for more Arancini…fingers crossed they’ll be available from late next week. Someone bought the last one before I could try so I’m counting down the hours…and finding solace in the café’s homemade ice tea.

Henrietta Spencer has some gorgeous linen arriving and Jaimie was sporting some lovely flowing trousers. Describing this sort of thing is not my forte, I feel I’m skirting a minefield but I do feel that those trousers should be part of everyone’s wardrobe.

And finally, flowers from the marvellous Janet Boon are appearing in the shop, new arrivals every Thursday. And it's worth coming in just to see the gorgeous display of veg!

So with no more ado. Here’s wishing you a fantastic weekend and we look forwards to welcoming you to your favourite foodie haven.

Stay safe and masses of love,

Will and Team GF
