There’s always a lot going on at Grange Farm…
Our Sheep
We rear our sheep on grass pasture less than a mile from the farm shop. Using old techniques we regularly move the sheep to prevent over grazing thereby looking after the land and enabling the best, healthiest grass to grow.
We have a small flock of UK native breed sheep, mostly Suffolk and we have just put a new Dorset Polle Ram into the flock. The Dorset is able to thrive and adjust to a wide range of weather conditions, whether it be cold or a high rainfall and drier more arid conditions are not a problem for these versatile sheep.
Grass-fed lamb is a nutrient-dense meat that offers a variety of health benefits. It is a nice lean meat, higher in omega-3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and other beneficial nutrients. These nutrients have been linked to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases. Grass-eating lamb is also a good source of protein, iron, and vitamin B12.
We are very excited to welcome Bess into the Grange Farm Family. Bess is an experienced organic grower and is sewing the seeds of our Farm to Fork ambitions. Expect to see wonderful salads in the café using leaves grown less than a mile away. Quiches bursting with fresh flavours in the shop and as Bess gets going, much more of her vegetables herbs and flowers will make an appearance in the shop and café.
